Origin
Based at Alto Agrelo in Mendoza, Pulenta own 135 hectares including large plots in the finest sub regions of Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Many of these vineyards are situated at altitudes of between 3000 and 3,500 feet, which tempers the Mendoza heat and makes for more refined and balanced wines. All vineyards are operated on an organic basis and are irrigated from natural melted Andes snow water.
Producer
Bodegas Pulenta is a family enterprise now in its third generation of wine makers. Winemaking began just over a century ago in 1912, while the Luján de Cuyo plantation was only later added in 1992. Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta are currently in charge, taking over from their father, Antonio.
Grape Variety
100% Malbec.
Grapes were hand harvested throughout the middle of March, from vines with an average age of 20 years. After a short pre fermentation cold soak (24 hours), the wine was aged for 6 months in a mix of second and third fill French oak barrels to round off and soften it. The whole aim of the “La Flor” Malbec is to make an accessible and early drinking style, but without any loss of power or definition.
Food Match
Serve with any robust red meat dishes or sausages char grilled, BBQ or casserole.

Excellent wine. Having just returned from South America I wanted to check if you can buy as good a wine as you can there and yes you can

Tremendous everyday drinking Malbec it says… if only that were socially acceptable and possible to do so in large quantities too…. it was tremendous indeed! If I were Argentinian I wouldn’t let these bottles leave the country!
