Origin
Marsanne grapes were sourced from the Marananga and Seppeltsfield regions, the Roussanne from the Kalimna region and the Viognier from the Eden Valley further south.
Producer
John Duval was for many years Penfolds senior winemaker and oversaw the production of the mighty Grange. Since 2003 John has worked on his own range of wines – remaining true to his core roots in the Barossa Valley. The Plexus Rhône white blend was launched on 2010 – being a combination of Marsanne and Roussanne, supplemented with a judicious dollop of Viognier from the cooler Eden Valley hills.
Grape Variety
57% Marsanne, 30% Roussanne and 13% Viognier.
A proportion of the Marsanne and all of the Viognier – was fermented in French oak, of which 10% was new. The remaining Marsanne and all of the Roussanne were tank fermented and then the two elements were blended about 6 months later.
