Origin
Grapes are selected from the hillside vineyards in the Valpantena Valley. Production in the area – including the two famous Soave and Valpolicella DOCs – has expanded rapidly over the years; however, the producers continue to source from the original sites above the fertile plains of the Adige river, where yields are closely monitored to produce quality grapes.
Producer
Alpha Zeta is a Liberty Wine venture, this wine produced by Luca Degani, with years of experience at Cantina Valpantena, and leading New Zealand winemaker, Matt Thomson. Its vision is to combine both international and home-grown expertise to produce a range of high quality wines from indigenous grape varieties. Matt works closely with local growers to select parcels of fruit, rather than purchasing bulk wine like many do in the area.
Grape Variety
100% Garganega – the great grape of Soave.
Grapes are hand harvested, destemmed and crushed before juice is naturally settled. Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures to preserve the fresh fruit flavours in the wine, with a small portion (20%) fermented in larger second fill oak barrels to add greater texture. Held in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.
Food Match
Fine with summer salads and lighter bodied white meats and fish – would even cut through grilled sardines for example.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Alcohol Percentage
12.5%

A lively and crisp wine with a delicate honey and almond character and a clean, zesty finish with a twist of lime. Great with dressed crab.

This was a lovely wine that went great with a homemade fish pie. My mouth is watering just remembering how well this wine went with the food. Definitely one to get again!
