Origin
The Tokaji region consists 28 villages spread over the Tokaji hills at around 200m above sea level. Topsoils consist of clay and loess, overlaying mineral-rich volcanic soils. South facing slopes and proximity to the Tisza and Bodrog rivers creates ideal conditions for vine cultivation.
Producer
Founded in 1869 in the centre of Tokaji, Dobogó is now owned by Izabella Zwack and her family. Izabella studied at the renowned Cullen estate in Margaret River, Australia and she has utilised that experience to wonderful effect at their Domaine. They own 28 different vineyard sites, which are farmed using organic methods. Interestingly “Dobogó” translates to heartbeat, an onomatopoeic title that suitably reflects a passion for wine making.

Grapes are sourced from 30 year old vines. Handpicked, they are then fermented and matured for six months in 3-4 year old Hungarian oak barrels. Aged for 1 year before bottling, with 6 months on lees.
