Decanter Wine Awards

We launched WineTrust100 just five months ago and the time has just flown by as we have been so busy.

I have decided to start a blog so that I can share with you some of the amazing things we have been up to – and more importantly some of the incredible wines we have found.
Hopefully you have now got the hang of what we are about: we stock just 100 wines and do the hard work of selecting the very best for you.
So, for example, you won’t find 15 New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs on our site. There is just one; but it was the very best we could find for the price. We list Lawson’s Dry Hills at £10 a bottle when you buy 6 or more (or £11 as part of a mixed case). This wine and the winery it comes from have picked up award after award with the reserve (coming to WineTrust100 very soon) winning the IWS Trophy for best New Zealand white and best New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
On Wednesday evening I took the WineTrust100 team to the Decanter Wine Awards where we were short-listed as best national wine retailer and saw several of our wines come away with some of the top awards. At the reception there were no less than 62 Trophy winning wines to taste. Nick – my co director and one of our Masters of Wine – managed to taste them all and make detailed notes on each and every one of them. Amazing.
Our 2012 Assyrtiko, Wild Ferment from Santorini in Greece and our 2011 Furmint from Tokaji in Hungary scooped top awards.
We have our monthly Masters of Wine selection meeting on Monday and I’ll keep you posted on what we add to our revised list.
