An absolutely benchmark Village Chablis from the very small 2013 harvest!

From the minuscule 2013 harvest – our new Chablis – Domaine Collet – is a wine of classical purity and style.
It is unoaked, capturing all the purity and steely focus of this cool climate region. Everything is in perfect harmony and there is real intensity here.  In effect, Chardonnay “unplugged”!

This Village Chablis comes from vineyards scattered around the town itself, including sites in Chablis, Préhy and Villy with the family vineyards extending over 37 hectares.
Founded in 1792, the Collet family grew and sold grapes for generations, but did not make their own wine until the middle of the 20th Century.  The Domaine is named after Jean who started with just 61 acres of vines in 1952.  His first Domaine release was the 1954 vintage.  In 1979, Jean was joined by his son, Gilles assisted by his wife Dominique and it’s the same couple who run the Domaine today, along with the next generation Romain who joined his father in 2008.
Since 1999, an experimental parcel of organic Chablis has been maintained, Collet being one of the first in the region to follow the concept of sustainable viticulture. Now, a total of 10 hectares are under conversion, with the prospect of being fully certified for the 2015 vintage.
2013 was one of the smallest vintages on record in the Appellation, but it has great concentration and character.   So please snap it up whilst you can – there isn’t very much!
Absolutely made for any classic shellfish dish, also lovely with sushi.
