An exhilarating style. Rich, full bodied for Champagne and slightly toasty, with notes of berry fruit and a beguiling complexity and savoury finish.

Origin

Lallier’s cuvees are sourced almost exclusively from Grand Cru villages. The Champagne house holds 12 hectares of vineyards spread over 43 plots – of which 5 are in the famous Grand Cru vineyard of Aÿ and 3 in two Grand Crus in the Côte des Blancs.

Producer

Lallier are a small family enterprise under the stewardship of winemaker Francis Tribaut. The Lallier family has been based in Aÿ for five generations and founded the house of Champagne Lallier in 1906. In 2003, Francis Tribaut took over the running and winemaking of the estate and the quality and reputation has seen a significant enhancement in that period.

Francis has focused on the production of high quality Champagnes, founded on the distinctive and defined Aÿ Grand Cru Pinot Noir character and style. Today they produce around 350,000 bottles, so remain small and very focused.

Grape Variety

66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay.

The Pinot Noir is sourced from mainly Aÿ and Verzenay and the Chardonnay from the prestigious Grand Crus Avize and Cramant in the Côte des Blancs. Reserve wines make up roughly 30% of the blend, which is aged for 36 months on lees.

Food Match

Although both Lallier Champagnes in our list make a fine aperitif, there is real weight and structure with them which means they will work with delicate shellfish dishes – most traditionally oysters – also sushi.

Suitable for vegetarians & vegans.

A very delicious champagne. Enjoyable to drink on its own or wonderful with smoke salmon.
